The fruit for this Shiraz was sourced from one of the Clare Valley’s most iconic dry grown vineyards. This very low yielding block, situated in the sub district of Leasingham, dates back over 100 years with original vines still producing ‘A+’ grade fruit.
Deep blood red with a purple and violet crimson halo.
Sweet ripe plum with a touch of all spice.
Rich and layered, black briar fruits on a plush mid palate. Juicy and fruit driven, hints of liquorice and mocha. Some oak sheen, nuttiness and spice. A strong finish with quality long, fine and velvet tannins. A powerful yet elegant style.
Peak Drinking / Cellaring Potential
This Shiraz will reward long term cellaring of 20 years under ideal cellaring conditions.
A rich wine that demands meaty rich dishes. Slow cooked and roasted meats. The wine’s fruit sweetness would match big, creamy blue cheeses.
