Adelaide Hills is increasingly taking the mantel of “exciting new Savvy”. Generally much lighter and drier versions of the white wine darling variety, Adelaide Hills is set to change the fortunes of many of the sweeter NZ wines on the market today.
2020 was a tragic vintage with much of the Adelaide Hills damaged either directly by deadly bushfires or indirectly by smoke taint. Despite the very dry and hot conditions and resultant low yields, the Oakbank vineyards managed to produce some clean fresh flavoured Sauvignon Blanc without smoke damage. This wine is a testimony to the resilience of the grape vine and one of very few Adelaide Hills wines to reach market in 2020.
Sourced from a single Sauvignon Blanc with a NE aspect set on gravelly well drained soils in the Oakbank sub region.
Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc is setting a new trend in a mature Sauvignon Blanc market dominated by the Kiwi’s style for more than a decade. A lighter, drier more delicate style for the future.
