Description
A little known and rare Italian variety in Australia but much better recognised in Italy as a staple variety in the Puglia region in the "heel" of Southern Italy. Like its relative Primitivo it has dark fruit flavours of plums, prunes, blackberries with dried herbs. This particular vintage has a curious and intriguing sarsaparilla, cola character. Most Italian varieties are great food wines and it is true of this wine as well. Serve with slow cooked game dishes and pasta or charcoal grilled meats. Enjoy now and over the next 3-4 years.
